Sports Prediction Rules

Last updated June 3, 2026

These rules explain how predictions, 1v1 challenges, and group pools are entered, held, and settled on Shake. They apply to both Play Mode (Shake Coins) and Prize Play (Shake Cash) unless a specific contest states otherwise.

Shake Holds the pot

When you Take It or Join Pool, Shake Holds every entry in escrow until the event settles. No participant controls the held stakes mid-contest. The moment results are final, Auto-Payout releases the pot to the winners.

1Markets & Picks

Each prediction is tied to a specific market on a real or simulated sporting event — such as the winner of a matchup, a spread, a total, or a player prop. Your pick is the side or outcome you select before the market locks.

  • Markets lock at the scheduled start time shown on the matchup. Picks cannot be changed after lock.
  • A pick is only active once Shake Holds your stake; an unconfirmed pick does not count as an entry.
  • The market terms displayed at the moment you confirm govern settlement, even if odds or lines later change.

2Shake Holds & Auto-Payout

When you Take It on a challenge or Join Pool, the corresponding Coins in Play are placed in escrow. Shake Holds these stakes for all participants so the pot is fully funded before the event begins.

  • Held stakes are shown as Coins in Play and are unavailable for other contests until the current one settles.
  • When the event is final, Auto-Payout instantly distributes the pot to the winning side based on the contest format.
  • If a contest never reaches a valid result, held stakes are returned to participants as described in Sections 4 and 5.

3Settlement Sources

Outcomes are determined using official results from the relevant league, governing body, or recognized data provider. Shake settles each market to the first complete, verified result available from these sources.

  • Final, official scores take priority over any in-app live or provisional figures.
  • Where multiple sources conflict, the official league result controls.
  • Statistical corrections issued by the official source after settlement are handled under Section 7.

4Pushes & Voids

A push occurs when the result lands exactly on the line so that no side wins. A void occurs when a market cannot be fairly settled — for example, a player prop where the athlete does not participate.

For pushes and voids, the affected portion of the pot is settled as a tie: Shake releases the held stakes back to each participant via Auto-Payout, with no winner or loser recorded for that market.

5Postponed or Cancelled Events

If an event is postponed and rescheduled within the contest window, the prediction generally carries over to the new start time and settles on the official result. If an event is cancelled, abandoned, or not rescheduled within a reasonable period, the related markets are voided.

Voided markets return all held stakes to participants. For group pools, only the affected matchups are voided where possible, and remaining matchups settle normally.

6Group Pool Scoring

Group pools settle on a points or elimination basis depending on the format selected when the pool is created. The winning side defined by each format receives the pot through Auto-Payout.

  • Pick'em — earn one point per correct matchup pick; the highest score takes the pot, with tied scores splitting it evenly.
  • Survivor — pick one winner each round; a single incorrect pick eliminates you, and the last remaining participant wins.
  • Props — score points across listed player and team props; totals are summed at settlement to rank participants.
  • Bracket — earn escalating points for correct picks in each round; the highest cumulative bracket score wins.

7Disputes & Corrections

If you believe a contest settled incorrectly, you may flag it for review within the dispute window shown on the contest. We review the official settlement source and the contest terms in effect at the time of entry.

Where an official correction changes a result after Auto-Payout, Shake may re-settle the affected contest and adjust balances accordingly. Settlement decisions made under these rules are final once the review window closes.
